Last year in June, I had the chance to plan a Taylor Swift-themed birthday for my friend Clara’s younger sister, Aliana.
She’s a huge Swiftie. She even has a Taylor Swift-inspired throw blanket, a framed poster she painted herself on her bedroom wall.
Last summer, she even got to attend the Eras Tour with her friends. So when Clara asked me to help with her birthday, we both knew there was only one way to go—full-on Taylor mode.
Taylor Swift’s music, eras, and signature style offer endless inspiration for throwing a magical, high-energy birthday bash.
Here I will share with you the Taylor Swift birthday party Ideas we used (plus some extras), including party favors, outfits, decorations, fun activities, and playlists.
Taylor Swift Themed Decoration
We hosted Aliana’s birthday indoors. So this made it easy to choose decoration supplies that matched our theme.
For the setup, we purchased a Taylor-themed supplies set from Amazon. This set included a Taylor-themed birthday banner, plates, cups, straws, napkins, and a matching tablecloth.
These different supplies pulled the theme together beautifully.
The most loved item was the Taylor Swift photo booth frame, and everyone snapped pics throughout the party.
Behind the dessert table, we added a shiny tinsel curtain as a party backdrop, giving us major Midnights vibes.
We also used balloons and Taylor Swift printed posters for decoration, and a sparkly Taylor-themed cake topper for the birthday cake.
All these supplies made for a picture-perfect setting and highlighted our party theme.
Party Favors for a Taylor Swift Themed Party
Aliana’s party was for a smaller group of close friends. So we wanted the favors to feel thoughtful and fun, without being wasteful.
I’ve hosted quite a few eco-friendly celebrations in New Jersey. This party wasn’t fully zero-waste, but I still added a few planet-friendly touches.
Instead of plastic trinkets, we packed cardboard Taylor-themed favor boxes with goodies that the guests actually used and loved.
We included homemade cookies, which Clara baked the day before (we used Taylor’s favorite chocolate chip recipe!).
Each box also had a positive affirmation notebook set that added a nice personal vibe. We also included retro sunglasses with letter beads, guests loved it for photo ops, and easy to match with everyone’s Eras-inspired outfits.
We also tucked in Taylor party stickers and guitar-shaped keychains—a cute nod to Taylor’s country roots and musical journey. Some guests clipped them to their tote bags before leaving.
To finish off the sparkle, each box had a tiny pot of face and body glitter gel that guests used during the party. These small, usable gifts felt intentional and added extra charm to the whole evening.
Games and Activities
For some of the games and activities at the party, we did some research and found a good set on Amazon.
We used a Taylor Swift party game card set (from Amazon) that came with six different activities printed on double-sided cards.
This included activities like ‘Unscramble the Song,’ multiple choice trivia, ‘Finish the Lyrics,’ word search, ‘Song Names,’ and ‘Guess the Name.’ Each game had 20 copies, so every guest could play along.
The kit even included pencils and an answer key, which made things super easy to manage.
Our guests loved these games, especially the trivia and “Finish the Lyrics” ones. There was a lot of laughter and a few friendly debates about older vs. newer albums.
This activity was a great way to keep everyone engaged, from casual fans to die-hard Swifties.
Dress Code & Vibes
We encouraged guests to show up in outfits inspired by their favorite Taylor Swift era. It made the whole party feel more immersive.
Aliana wore a sparkly lavender dress that screamed Lover, while I showed up in a flannel and red lipstick to rep Red.
Fun outfit themes include:
- Glitter and glam for Midnights
- Edgy black for Reputation
- Boho florals for Folklore
- Preppy cardigans and skirts for 1989
You can also provide some friendship bracelet-making materials. It’s easy, fun, and fits the theme perfectly.
The Soundtrack: All Taylor, All Night
How can we host a Taylor theme party without the music? We created a playlist that flowed from early-country Taylor to her latest Tortured Poets Department songs.
I recommend playing albums by the hour—maybe start with Fearless and end with Midnights for a nostalgic journey.
We also had a mini karaoke setup. Everyone got to belt out their favorite track. “You Belong With Me” and “Cruel Summer” were our party’s favourites.
Taylor-Inspired Eats & Treats
We had so much fun naming our food. Some highlights of how we named,
- All Too Well apple pie bites
- Cornelia Street corn dip
- Red Velvet cupcakes with edible glitter
- Lavender Haze lemonade (we actually used lavender syrup)
For the cake, we went with a multi-layered design, each layer themed by a different album. It was as extra as it sounds, and totally worth it.
Waste Management at the Party
I always try to keep every celebration as sustainable as possible. So, I made sure we had a waste plan in place. We set up clearly labeled bins for compost, recycling, and trash.
The food scraps (like cupcake wrappers and fruit peels) went straight into Clara’s backyard compost bin.
Paper products were sorted for recycling, and most of the decorations were saved for reuse, like the photo booth frame and tablecloth.
We deflated some balloons and stored them to use for Clara’s craft projects. These little things really do add up when we’re trying to be mindful.
I was hosting a Taylor Swift-themed party for the first time. I am happy that we did not disappoint the guests. The theme was visible in every aspect of the party.
Hosting themed parties is special, especially when they reflect the guest of honor.
If you’re planning a Swiftie birthday, these ideas may help you. Make your party fun, fabulous, and a little eco-friendly.
